Founders

Nikita Dhawan is a high school student  in New Delhi. She has always been passionate about animal welfare and environmental conservation. Nikita started her first campaign against animal captivity for entertainment with a petition during the pandemic, and is now the campaign lead and petitioner for #FreeShankarDelhiZoo initiative by Youth for Animals. Nikita has recently been inducted as a Youth Ambassador for Born Free Foundation, a global animal charity. She is also a member of IUCN’s Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) and a Youth ambassador for Earthday.org. Nikita is also a show host for the All About Animals Radio, a UK based community radio.

Nandika Karunakaram is an undergraduate student at the University of Warwick, UK where she is pursuing a BASc. in Global Sustainable Development and Economics. Nandika is very passionate about social causes, she co-founded the initiative Youth For Animals. She has written many articles for NGOs as well as student run initiatives.

Team

Paakhi Siddharth is a student of the Shri Ram school Moulsari. She loves drawing,painting,clay modeling and other forms of creative expression . She is passionate about nature and loves animals . Paakhi hopes to keep helping animals in need and prays for world peace .

Tarini Shanker, a student of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari Avenue, has always been an avid lover of animals and is passionate about their protection and upliftment. She keenly realises that conservation of animals means conservation of people too. In her free time she enjoys baking and anything to do with art

Anya is a eighth-grade student in New Delhi. She has always loved animals and has been interested in wildlife. She believes that a place without animals would be terrible, and we should do as much as we can to keep them safe. All animals have unique and amazing qualities and should be treated with care. From feeding birds and squirrels in the garden to seeing tigers in the wild, she has always displayed fondness for animals.

Anamika Chatterjee is a student of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari. As an enthusiastic and passionate animal lover Anamika has always intrusively fought against animal cruelty and this initiative gave her a platform to voice out her concerns. She sternly accepts that “Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land.”

Tal Nevjelik is a Grade 12 student who spent several years in New Delhi when she was in elementary and middle school. She is an animal lover and a very talented artist who uses her art as her voice for the animals. 

Ishan Puri is a Grade 9 student at the Vasant Valley School in New Delhi. His interest in animals and their welfare had grown since his first visit to the Amboseli National Park and the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya when he was four years old. He firmly believes all human beings must be kind and protect all animals and living creatures to maintain the ecological balance on our precious planet, without which life on our Mother Earth is simply unimaginable.

Rina Hamanishi is a 11th-grade student interested in animals since young, always had a pet dog, and loved golden retrievers. She appreciates the nature of wild animals and strives for them to have the best life possible. Coming to India, she was shocked by the way animals were treated by humans. Dogs are brutally attacked, and cows have only trash on the sides to eat. Starting high school, she joined the PAWS club which supports her perspective. As the club leader, she helps recognize these mistreatments of animals to the student volunteers, provides any materials needed, and takes further action to recognize them.

Partners

The world has some wonderful young animal warriors who support and cheer for each other to collectively make this world a better place for animals. Leo Sordello-Savale, is a seven-year-old boy trying to save the planet from his bedroom in south London. From a young age, Leo wanted to learn about animals and loved playing with lizards and butterflies. He was inspired by watching cartoons about endangered animals and during lockdown decided it was time to start raising awareness of their plight and started his own channel ‘Leo’s Animal Planet’. Leo’s videos are now viewed by thousands of people from all over the world including the UK, US, Australia, India, Japan and Vietnam. Check out his amazing Youtube channel.

Leo helped us raise a voice for Shankar in a wonderful & informative video that got us thousands of signatures for our campaign. He has been a true partner for us and an awesome friend of the animals. Thank you Leo and more power to you!

Jude is a seven year old, extremely determined and talented artist from York, England who loves supporting animal causes. On his twitter account he writes this about himself- “Hi! I’m Jude, 7 yrs old & at my happiest when immersed in my drawings, I have visual impairments/colour blindness so all my work is monochrome, hope you enjoy”. Jude created a beautiful elephant drawing to support our #ArtforShankar program and helped raise awareness for Shankar’s plight in the Delhi Zoo. He continues to engage with our campaign and is getting many of his ardent fans signing the petition. Thank you Jude for using your art to speak for the voiceless!
